Suffering from hair loss? Studies show that every four out of six men becomes a victim of hair loss by the time they reach 35. Now the question comes, is it treatable? Of course it is. Is hair transplant in Kolkata the only option to treat hair loss? Certainly not. Though it depends upon how severe is your condition.
There are different methods to treat alopecia, one of them is Minoxidil and Finasteride treatment.
So what is Minioxidil and Finasteride?
Minoxidil is a vasodilator, which means it helps to widen the blood vessels, regulates the hair growth cycle and improves the blood flow in the hair follicles when applied on scalp. Minoxidil 2% solution is usually applied twice a day though this can be increased (for men only) to a twice daily application of 1 ml minoxidil 5% solution.
Finasteride, on the other hand is a DHT blocker. DHT (dihydrotestosterone) is the primary reason of male pattern balding. The follicles affected by DHT becomes smaller in diameter, shorter in length and lighten in colour, leading to thinning hair, receding hairline and baldness. Finasteride when taken, stops the conversion of testosterone into DHT.
Minoxidil doesn’t stop hair loss but helps to grow thicker hair in a faster way. On the other hand Finasteride stops the DHT from damaging the hair follicles. The chemical composition of both Minoxidil and Finasteride don’t cross each other’s road hence the combination therapy can be used simultaneously.
Point to be noted Minoxidil and Finasteride are the only FDA approved products to treat hair loss in men. Use of both the product has shown significant success in treating androgenic alopecia.
Finasteride comes in form of pills. Whereas minoxidil comes in form of liquid solution that needs to be applies on the scalp.
Researches have shown that the use of Minoxidil and Finasteride has shown significant results in the treatment of androgenic alopecia or male pattern baldness. Nine out of Ten men have shown improvement in the study.
