Overview:

PRP or Platelet Rich Plasma treatment is used as a healing treatment. Platelet is a component found in our blood which clots blood and promote “cell growth”. The concept is to extract plasma from a part of your body and then inject it to your scalp to promote hair growth and nourish the hair follicles. If you undergo hair transplant in Kolkata, PRP treatment is recommended by the surgeon post-surgery or pre-surgery depending on the scalp condition.

What is the process?

PRP treatment is a 3-step process where the blood is collected, typically from your arm and then put into a centrifuge. After 10 minutes the blood get separated into 3 components; Platelet Rich Plasma, Platelet Poor Plasma and Red Blood Corpuscles. The Platelet Rich Plasma is then injected in the scalp where the increased hair growth is needed.

Who should go for this treatment?

Anyone experiencing hair loss or hair thinning can go for this PRP treatment. Studies say that people with early hair loss responds best to this treatment. PRP treatment is best for the people suffering from androgenic alopecia i.e. hair loss from the crown of the head leaving the back and sides of the head intact.

What are the results?

Considering previous studies and responses, the results will be best only if consistency is maintained. According to the people who have gone through this treatment said that initially they have seen significant decrease in hair shedding and later on early hair growth and increased length of hair. The treatment is generally performed once in three months and then every three to six months depending on the patient’s response to the therapy.
