Below we have answered some common doubts about the FUT hair transplant surgery:

1) WHAT IS A FUT TRANSPLANT ABOUT?

Follicular Unit Transplant is usually done to cover bald spots, it is a minimally invasive surgery and gives natural-looking results. This surgery is performed mainly to cover a receding hairline by male pattern baldness.

2) HOW DOES A FUT TRANSPLANT WORK?

The surgeon cuts a strip of the scalp skin from usually, the back of the head, this is done to cover bald spots. The size of this strip cut depends on the number of follicles that are required to cover the bald spots. After these follicles are removed, they are re-inserted into the scalp. With the help of a local anaesthesia, the person can remain awake during the surgery while their scalp is numb.

3) WHAT DOES THE PROCEDURE LOOK LIKE?

First, the surgeon will re-draw your hairline, mark the area of hair extraction. He will then take photographs for your medical record, You may have the option of taking a sedative before surgery to reduce any discomfort, Local anaesthesia will be applied to your scalp to numb it.

The hair at the donor site, the place from where your hair is removed from, will be trimmed to about two millimetres.

Further, the surgeon will cut out the strip of skin with the hair follicles, this strip will now be used as a graft, You’ll stay awake during the surgery.

A medical technician will remove individual hair follicles from the strip and later, prepare them for transplantation.

The surgeon will be closing your scalp with sutures.

The hair follicles will then be inserted into the bald areas of your scalp in a pattern that looks absolutely natural.

As you can see, the before and after result pictures, FUT can lead to a drastic change in the appearance and can boost one’s confidence. It is one of the safest ways to voluminous hair and fuel hair growth.

However, FUT procedure can leave a linear scar at the area from where the strip of hair follicles has been removed. One can hide this FUT scar and also it heals with time, if proper aftercare guidelines are taken care of. The FUT procedure can boost hair growth and enhance one’s appearance gradually; more natural looking changes are visible after FUT.
