As for any person to undergo any kind of surgical treatment, they might have queries and expectations. This is same for hair transplant in kolkata. As per experience these are some question generally asked by the patients.
Am I the right person for hair transplant?
Good candidates are those who are affected by androgenic alopecia with good donor area in terms of number of follicles as well as densely packed with thick Anagen phase follicles. If you are not suffering from ‘Scarring Alopecia’ or Auto Immune Disorder are not good candidate for this in spite of having good donor area. Perfect donor area is typically back of the scalp which contain genetically programmed to be permanent follicles. This area is filled with Non-androgenic follicles, so they are not affected by DHT (Dihydrotestosterone) hormone. As a result chances are they are going to be permanent at the recipient site, i.e. frontal, temporal and vertex (crown) area.
Right age for hair transplant
Any person who is psychologically stable and physically fit can do it within the age range of 24 to 60 years. Everyone has different genetics which is why some are getting bald in teen ages while some maintain good hair even when they are the 50s and above. We have seen, nowadays, most men are tends to lose their hair in their 20s & 30s. And when we are comparing with patient family history, we often see their father or genetically close relatives had denser hair at their respective ages.
Result:
Many persons ask about the outcome of the procedure. The end result varies from person to person. Any two people cannot have identical result, because the result depends upon multiple factors like genetic representation, environmental factors, stress level, smoking or any other tobacco addiction, nutritional status, age of the person, associated medical ailments, thickness of the donor area and last but not the least, experience of the surgeon.
Longevity of the implanted follicles
Longevity of the transplanted hair depends on the methodology used for the procedure. For instance, in FUE (Follicular Unit Extraction) you can start to see the result within 3-4 months of the surgery. But the longevity is comparatively less. In FUT (Follicular Unit Transplantation), the result may start to appear bit late, after 5-6 months, but the longevity is much higher than the former procedure. Overall longevity is also multi-factorial; it depends on genetic representation, age of the patient and his lifestyle.
Are they painful?
Most of the people think that this process is more painful and they do not show much interest in hair transplants. They would have noticed the patient's scalp with red dots and they might have assumed it to be more painful. But the hair transplantation is not painful at all. First, you will be given a local anaesthetic to numb your scalp and once the effect is reduced then you won’t feel any pain in the scalp.
Are hair transplants so expensive?
If you have ever looked for the cost of hair transplant in Kolkata or all over India then you will know that they are not cheap. The procedure for 2000 grafts takes 5 to 6 hours and for 3000 grafts it takes multiple sessions. This creates a great impact on cost.
Which type of procedure will suit?
There are two main types of the hair transplant procedure. They are FUT and FUE. Among these FUT is less expensive and FUE doesn’t leave a scar on the scalp. You should discuss it with your surgeon and choose the best method that suits you.
